These sound recordings were taken from the Milwaukee area, predominately from sites near the shore of Lake Michigan. Through these recordings, I was trying to capture a sense of nature. Nature by itself, human interaction with nature, and how man made objects can manipulate a natural setting.

Atwater Park Beach, Shoreline

The water itself was fairly calm; it washed up on the beach quite serenely. I would have thought, due to the fact that wind is normally strong near the water and shoreline, that there would be bigger waves and much louder sounds.

It's interesting to listening to other people during daily life. This is a classic example, the kids want to go play in the woods (or near the pricker bushes, in this case) but their parents don't want them to because it could be too 'dangerous'.

Lake Park, Chipmunks

I was able to get very close to the chipmunks. I was basically standing right next to them, holding the mics just a few inches above them. They didn't seem to notice me at all.

Edge of McKinley Marina, Seagulls

The seagulls sound like they're quite riled up, though this is probably due to the presence of a few crows. One or two of them [seagulls] would periodically land on the top of the street light, but for the most part, they were just flying in circles above me.

Edge of McKinley Marina, Flagpole Base

There was no actual flagpole there, hence I was able to get the mics inside the hole in the base. I don't exactly know why there was no flagpole, and I especially don't know why the base was located underneath a picnic table. Perhaps it's not used anymore, or it's only used on certain occasions, in which the picnic table would be moved.
